For what is a story telling game, having a game over sequence on what is nearly every single major dialog tree just does not feel good imo.It just comes down to roll the dice and hope you don't get a gameover. I would surmise that has to do with the source material and that may be how things transpire within that but as a game it's just not entertaining.If the goal is to service that niche fanbase then i think you're fine, but if you want broader appeal this is gonna struggle. Fabled Lands takes the classic adventure stories written by authors Dave Morris and Jamie Thomson and puts them into a video game where you can explore almost anywhere and role-play however you wish with no physical dice required. If there were more ways to tackle some of the quests it would help compensate for this but as it stands it's a basic flow chart. I have a few concerns regarding the scaling of Defence. When the optimal strategy is use a potion and then save scum it just doesn't feel good. Combat is essentially roll 2d6 add Combat and you do 1 point of Stamina damage per point you exceed the opponents Defence, which is a static value (Rank + Combat + Armour). I understand that rng is rng that's basically every rpg and card game but there is very little in game to functionally increase your success rate. Also consider that you have useful blessings like the storm blessing and the poison protection which are functionally useful. Using a blessing isn't adding anything to the game other than a gold sink when we can just abuse the save system for the same effect. IMO the design problem with using blessings as a simple re roll system is why would a player do that when we can just save scum. Weathered Heirloom Armor Casing Battle-Hardened Heirloom Armor Casing. OK thanks for the clarification on that then. Heirloom Set Bonuses - In Shadowlands, heirlooms now grant a unique 7 item set. 2 Adventuring in the Fabled Lands DEFENCE Your Defence score is equal to: your COMBAT score plus your Rank plus the bonus for the armour youre wearing (if any).
